Rubber band cars

Mr Clark created kit sets and wrote directions for Rooms 3 & 4 to make our rubber band cars. We worked in groups and followed the directions:

Assembling a ‘Rubber Band Car’

1.   Find what you need in your kitset: 1x flat body, 2x  6mm axles, 4x wheels, 1x 5cm tube, 2x 1.5cm tube, 2 small rubber bands, 2 large rubber bands, 1 paper clip.
         Tools needed: Glue gun

2.   Assembly:
Paint and decorate the body of the car.
In order to attach the tubes in the correct place draw 2 straight lines across on the underside of the body - 1 at 2cm from the front and 1 at 1.5cm from the back  (either side of the gap).
Glue the 5cm tube on the front line and two 1.5cm tubes on the back line (either side of the gap).
Note: Put glue along the line, then position the axle on the glue.
     Assemble axles/wheels:
-       Put 1 wheel on one end of each axle. Leave the axle about 1mm back from the outside surface of the wheel. Fill this cavity with hot glue.
-       Insert axles through the tubes and attach the other wheels in the same way.
Attach a paper clip over the front edge of the body.
Tie together the 2 large rubber bands, then attach the end of this to the centre back axle.
NOTE WELL: Pass the loop from the BACK under the axle and then thread the other end through this loop and pull tight and then slip other end over the paper clip at the front.

Stretch a small rubber band over each of the rear wheels - twice around.
