Representative choirs
We are very proud of Nevaeh, Akaela, Isa, Giliet, Ferlyn, Lebron, Ella and Nichole for auditioning with hundreds of other students from primary schools throughout Canterbury for a place in the highly prestigious junior and senior representative choirs at the Christchurch Schools' Music Festival in October.
Huge congratulations to Nevaeh who won a place in the junior choir and Lebron who won a place in the senior choir. They will perform for the 3 nights of the festival at the Horncastle Arena.
Nevaeh and Lebron will practise with the choirs for approximately 6 Saturdays in term 3 to learn the different parts of the massed choir items and will attend a 3 day holiday course in the September holidays where they will learn their 3 special songs to perform on the 3 nights of the festival. Good luck Nevaeh and Lebron!

Philippines Independence Day
Today we celebrated Independence Day in the Philippines with all our Filipino students.
We formed a circle around the chalked Filipino flag, prayed a prayer in English and the 2 Filipino languages of our school, then enjoyed a bbq together for lunch. Thanks very much to Mr French and Mr Currie for barbecuing our sausages on such a beautiful sunny day!

Prayer: Loving
God of Justice and Peace
We remember
that today is Independence Day in the Philippines.
We are blessed
to have so many students and families from this beautiful culture here at
Sacred Heart.
We pray for our
Filipino families in Christchurch and New Zealand.
May they feel
the love and support from all of us here at Sacred Heart and from the
communities they live in.
We pray for
those in authority in the Philippines, that they will be guided to lead the
country in the values we hold dear - Peace, Love and Justice.
Amen
