Addington Bush
Many thanks to Rasela's dad, for giving the hub access to Addington Bush this afternoon, as part of our learning about different habitats. We are very lucky that the Bush is so close to us. We came back buzzing!

Life Education
We have been treated this week with 2 lessons from Jamie in the Life Education van.
Life Education is an interactive educational programme
linked to the National School Health Curriculum and presented in hi-tech mobile
classrooms which provide a unique learning environment with audio-visual
materials, interactive models and Harold, the
Giraffe, chosen as the mascot because he stands tall, and this is what we want
our students to do.
Jamie brought alive for us the theme of Body and Physical Activity. We thoroughly enjoyed Jamie's enthusiasm and the interactive programme she presented, and of course we were all excited when Harold appeared!! We found the presentation on the circulatory system very interesting and helpful for our linked literacy programme back in the hub.

New Zealand Sign Language Week 2017
Each
May, Deaf Aotearoa runs New Zealand Sign Language Week, celebrating one of New
Zealand’s official languages. NZSL Week raises awareness of New Zealand’s
Deaf community and provides a platform for Deaf people to proudly promote
their language and culture.
Today we were very lucky to have Mrs Rutherford, Yuan's support teacher from Van Asch Deaf Education Centre, share with us her knowledge of sign language. She not only taught us the alphabet in sign language, but she also made herself available for students to learn more sign language at morning tea. Thank you Mrs Rutherford!
